When it comes to our dogs and cats Blue Buffalo and Petco share the same philosophy – they’re not just pets, they’re family.

One important aspect of our fight against pet cancer began in 2009 when we teamed up with Petco for our Pet Cancer Awareness Month. Every May we ask pet parents to make a donation at any Petco register, or to donate online, with this year’s goal of raising $2 million. Our efforts have raised over $15 million to help in the fight against pet cancer, making Blue Buffalo (formerly Blue Buffalo Foundation) and the Petco Foundation the #1 contributors to pet cancer research.

The funds raised during May are being distributed to organizations like the Morris Animal Foundation, the National Canine Cancer Foundation, and others who are doing cutting-edge research on treatment advancements and helping find a cure for this disease. And because pet cancer affects families as well, we’ve also supported organizations that help defray the high cost of treatments for families who may not have otherwise had the means to afford their pet’s care.

Affected by Pet Cancer?

Because pet cancer can affect any family at any time, we’ve teamed up with the Petco Foundation to do our part to help. In the Pet Cancer Resource Guide, you’ll find a list of recent grant recipients that have funds available to help pet parents offset the cost of pet cancer treatment. If your family is in need of assistance, please start here.
