Lucky's Story

Lucky came to our new home on March 26, 1999. He was a very energetic, gentle, and playful pup. To be quite honest, I didn't want him. I wanted a full breed rottweiler. However, after spending a full day with him, we created a bond that I will never forget. He became my best friend, someone who I would honestly look for when I felt sad. He made me laugh with all the silly things he did, such as breaking into my room and sleeping on my bed when I wasn't home; or instead of sleeping on his king size dog bed, he slept in my pug's bed which was 10 times smaller; or lastly, burrying all the bones (some belonged to my other dogs) in my mom's vegetable garden. What a suprise she had when she thought she was growing tomatoes! Lucky lived for 11 years. I recently made a heartfelt decision to put him down from his misery on May 6, 2010; man, it was hard. Even now I'm still crying. The cancer he was fighting was too much for him. As much as I wanted him to fight it, I didn't have the heart to see him not doing his normal routines: running, jumping, and digging, and most important of all, giving us his unconditional love. I miss you my best buddy! You've made an impact in my life and surely left paw prints in my heart.
