Lilly's Story

Lilly is a shih-poo, 11 yrs old. Her groomer noticed a lump in Lilly's throat back in February. I took her to vet and he aspirated it, said it looked malignant. It was thyroid tumor, malignant and aggressive. Lilly had surgery to remove it 3-3-10. Lilly was having chemo (Carboplatin) for the thyroid cancer which had metastisized. We took her back for her second chemo, and again the groomer noticed something a "lump" inher groin. Pointed it out to oncologist on second chemo appt and she aspirated it, Mast Cell Tumor. Lilly has two cancers now. She just had surgery to remove the MCT and we will not know what grade or stage it is until the pathology report comes back. Lilly is fighting hard against this disease and we are fighting with her. Unfortunately, we have been told there is not much research on canine cancer. I am happy PetCo is raising awareness of canine cancer.
