Riley's Story

Riley was my constant for eleven years before succumbing to cancer. As a puppy I would jokingly call him my constant source of joy and exercise. He was quite a handful! But with time and patience he learned to behave and was always a joy to me.

Riley never lost his sense of mischief. He loved a good game of "Gimme that sock!" in the mornings, grabbing one of my socks and running under the kitchen table with it, eyes gleaming. But he really was everything good in a dog.

Riley loved to take long walks and had friends all over town. It would amuse me that people I didn't even know would stop and call him by name as though they were old friends. I would joke that someday he would have to introduce us!

When he was diagnosed with cancer at age ten, it felt like the end of the world. He lost his battle on January 20, 2008, slipping peacefully away in my arms.

I have since adopted a new Boxer, Petie, who is now my constant joy and exercise. Though he will never replace Riley, I love the little stinker dearly and would never feed him anything but Blue. I want to give him every possible advantage to live a long, healthy life!
